Who we are
Small steps. Big impact.
Mrasni Lapichki Foundation (Dirty Paws) works toward the long-term, sustainable reduction of stray animal populations in Bulgaria through prevention, adoption, and community engagement.
The problem
Systemic problems require systemic solutions.
Stray animal overpopulation is not the result of a lack of compassion, but of a lack of an effective and consistently applied system.
Although legal frameworks exist, they are often not implemented in practice. Prevention, coordination between institutions, and long-term population control are frequently missing, allowing the problem of stray dogs and cats to repeat itself year after year.
This is not only an animal welfare issue. It is also a public issue affecting health, safety, and municipal resources.
